L’AUPAIRE releases his third album Drifting

Singer-songwriter L’AUPAIRE (Robert Laupert) once again blends folk, pop, and blues into a distinctive sound on Drifting—honest, emotional, and rich in atmosphere. His raw, soulful voice carries songs that feel like musical postcards from across Europe. Lisbon, a duet with lúisa, evokes the melancholic warmth of Portugal; Flamenco is a passionate homage to Barcelona; and Tuscan Sun paints a vivid picture of sun-drenched Tuscany.

Drifting was written during a challenging chapter of life—between the routines of family, FaceTime calls, and quiet nights after the children had gone to sleep. It’s an album about pausing, searching, and not always knowing where the journey leads—but that uncertainty is where its power lies. Featuring analog textures, acoustic instruments, and a tangible handmade feel, L’AUPAIRE draws inspiration from artists like Neil Young and Tom Petty while always staying true to his own voice.

The visual design comes from artist Rosi Feist, who has created many of L’AUPAIRE’s single covers in recent years. The album artwork shows a stylized Southern European port city—minimal yet layered, just like the music itself.

Since launching his music career in 2013—when he packed his studio into a van and moved to Budapest—L’AUPAIRE has established himself as a defining voice in Germany’s music scene. His work has gained international attention, with songs featured in films, on radio, and across major streaming platforms.

With Drifting, L’AUPAIRE presents his most personal album to date—a collection full of depth, intimacy, and sonic warmth. A strictly limited, hand-signed vinyl edition will be released in calendar week 38 (one week before official release).

L’AUPAIRE releases his third album Drifting – 26.09.2025

Berlin, Germany – Singer-songwriter L’AUPAIRE (Robert Laupert) returns with Drifting, his third studio album—a multifaceted and deeply emotional collection of songs. With his distinctive voice—raw, soulful, and sincere—L’AUPAIRE continues to blend folk, pop, and blues in his own unique and exceptional way.

Drifting unfolds like a musical road trip across Europe—atmospheric, layered, and emotionally charged. The second track, Revolution, opens the album with striking intensity: a song that conveys inner upheaval, chaos, and emotional tension. Lisbon, an evocative duet with lúisa, paints a tender, melancholic sonic portrait of the Portuguese capital—warm and wistful. Flamenco, in contrast, is a vibrant, personal tribute to Barcelona—passionate, rhythmic, and close to the pulsing life of the city.

The album cover was created by artist Rosi Feist, whose style is both clear and layered—modern yet timeless. It features a stylized Southern European port city, reflecting the longing landscapes captured in the music. Feist has visually accompanied L’AUPAIRE’s musical journey for years, designing many of his single covers.

L’AUPAIRE’s productions are raw, emotionally complex, and strikingly intimate—marked by analog textures, pedal steel, and the human warmth of acoustic instruments. His music is rooted in the traditions of folk and Americana but reaches far beyond them, creating a space where stillness, movement, memory, and imagination blend into one. Influences from greats like Neil Young and Tom Petty are present—both in songwriting and sound—yet L’AUPAIRE has carved out a style entirely his own. His authenticity has earned him international recognition: he is among the few German artists featured on major U.S. folk playlists on global streaming platforms.

While Ocean Girl is a deeply personal reflection on parenthood, Tuscan Sun takes listeners on a journey through the sun-drenched landscapes of Tuscany. I Love Her All the Way, with its warm and driving rhythm, rounds out the experience. Drifting speaks to the travelers, the searchers, the nostalgic, and the quietly hopeful. It’s a love letter to the in-between—the quiet beauty of not yet knowing. Created in uncertain times—between FaceTime calls, school runs, and long nights after the children had fallen asleep—Drifting isn’t about being lost, but about finding meaning and grounding in the flow of life.

L’AUPAIRE’s musical journey began in 2013, during a formative time when he packed up his studio into a van and moved to Budapest. Writing and producing his first songs in his grandparents’ apartment, he began carving out a path that would eventually establish him as one of Germany’s most distinctive songwriting voices. His earlier releases—including the acclaimed Rollercoaster Girl EP (2014), debut album Flowers (2015), and introspective Reframing (2019)—have received international praise. His music has been featured in film, television, and on major radio stations, and his live shows have captivated audiences across Europe.

In 2016, L’AUPAIRE earned second place in the ARD New Music Award and later received a Dutch Edison Award for Take Heart, a collaboration with the Kaiser Quartett. Most recently, he co-wrote the theme song for AUSGSTING, the upcoming documentary by the Wittman Brothers, together with Claudio Donzelli of Mighty Oaks. The film will premiere in theaters on August 28.

Now based in Berlin, L’AUPAIRE is the proud father of three children. With Drifting, he presents his most personal work to date—an album that doesn’t just tell stories, but lives them. It is dedicated to his family, friends, and creative companions. Like a postcard from a place both familiar and far away, the album invites listeners to pause, listen, and carve out a quiet moment of their own.

A strictly limited, hand-signed vinyl edition of Drifting will be released in calendar week 38.
